Tech Ops

Our Tech Ops crew is a group of our students that takes care of anything to do with electronics for practices and gamedays.

On top of the kids that we have working this crew we are in desperate need of at least 2 adult videographers. One of the adults would be filming the sideline angle from the press box and the other adult would be filming the endzone angle. Both of these angles are crucial for us to teach from. We had some technical difficulties last week with our endzone camera and MISSED SOME CRUCIAL TEACHING FILM for our offensive and defensive fronts.

Please anyone who is willing to volunteer their time on Friday nights and is interested or knows someone who would be good contact Coach Simoneaux @ dsimoneaux@catholicpc.com

Thanks and Go Hornets!

Varsity Players: Spirit Pack and Boot Camp Fee

All varsity players will be required to pay a spirit pack and boot camp fee of $100. Checks can be made out to CHSPC.

The spirit pack includes:
1 pair of socks
2 dri-fit loose practice shirts
1 compression shirt to wear under their pads on gameday
2 pairs of practice shorts

Extra spirit pack items can be purchased @ http://www.redsticksports.com/chpcfb.cfm for any parent that is worried about their kid losing things or parents that don't want to have to wash as often.

That portion of the fee cost our program $76. The extra money is to help defer the cost of the lunches for the 3 day boot camp that has already passed.

Thanks!

GRIDIRON MEETING WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19TH

Our next Gridiron Meeting will be next Wednesday August 19th @ 6 P.M. Location: St. Mary's Parish Hall

We will have a special guest speaker Coach Kenny Guillot who is my mentor and was my high school football coach. Coach is now the Athletic Director at Parkview Baptist and 4-Time State Champion Head Football Coach of the Eagles(2001,2007, 2010, 2012). He will help shed some light on the importance of parent and community involvement in a program that strives to be successful on and off the field. Also, he will share the journey he and his program took beginning in 1999 to become a perennial powerhouse in Louisiana Football.
Before Coach Guillot speaks, we will have a preview of the scrimmage that will occur next Thursday night at 6 pm vs. Dunham High School at Community Field.

Also, we will sell tickets to the much anticipated Comedy Night on August 29th and give updates on all the hard work that is being done around the football facilities to make this program top notch. The last item on the agenda is the New Roads Jamboree which is fast approaching (Aug. 28th). We will work to build a plan to make that night as successful as it can be.

Don't miss out! Jambalaya plates will be available for $10 as well as a cash bar.

Opportunity to Buy Hornet Gear and Support the Football Program

Red Stick Sports has made it possible for you to purchase Hornet Football gear online. The online store was formed for several reasons as listed below:

  • Allow our program supporters to purchase awesome Hornet Gear.
  • The football program will get a portion of every item you buy back from Red Stick Sports.
  • All items that will be in the players Spirit Pack will be available online. This is good for parents who don't always want to be washing the same item or for parents who have kids that often loose things!
The Deadline for ordering is August 10th! There is some good looking gear on here!

Ordering Instructions:

1.    Go to www.redsticksports.com/. On the header bar, there will be a link to “School Spirit.” When the mouse is over that title, a dropdown will appear for the “CHSPC Football” that you can select.

2.    Click on the items you want to purchase. On the next page, you will fill in size and quantities then choose “Add to Cart.” If you would like to purchase multiple items, please add the size and quantity to your cart then choose the continue shopping option. If you would like multiple sizes per items, you need to select the item a second time and choose the size and quantity you would like. In the notes section, you will need to enter player uniform number.

3.   Once you have added all the items that you want to purchase, click on the square box near the top right of the screen with the image of the shopping cart. Complete your check out there.

Progress

We had a highly productive week concerning facility improvements. I am proud to say we are achieving many of our objectives we set out to conquer when we first launched "Operation Level the Playing Field".

Here are some before pics:

Parking pipe that outlines the parking lot.

Algae and chipping paint on goalposts.

The practice field grass was full of stickers and crab grass.

O-line and D-line sled.

During The Work:

Thanks to Gary Jewell and Jared Smith for the use of the man lift.

Coach Funderburk grinding down the bolts we used to bolt down our 5 new racks. Coach Funderburk helped us purchase 5 new racks and rearrange the weightroom to increase functionality. We can now lift 48 athletes at a time with 12 racks as opposed the old 7 rack setup where we could only functionally lift 28 athletes at a time.

After Pictures:

Sled is looking great: Sandblasted, painted, fixed tires, new seat welded on, and brand new brakes!

Permanent Lines and good grass on the practice field!

Sand pit is looking great, but not quite a finished product.. We were short on sand but we are working on getting some more. This sand pit will be a great training tool for all athletes on campus and will also serve as a sand volleyball court for our girls volleyball team.

The 12 rack weightroom configuration.

It is a special time to be a part of Catholic of Pointe Coupee. It has been humbling as the head coach of this program to be met with so much support and belief in what we are trying to do with this program. God bless you all for your trust and for being such a huge part of what we will accomplish in the years to come as we all work together to build an elite football program.

Gridiron Club-Locker Room Project Update

We had an outstanding meeting last night! One head count had over 60 attendees! Thank you for your overwhelming support! The Hornet Family is alive and well! It is a great time to be a part of this program.

It's not to late to donate to give our guys a first class facility. Below are the pictures of the dungeon of a locker room that we currently have.

These pictures are an idea of what we are trying to build. A place that the guys can take pride in and that will last a long time.
